Despite interest from a host of clubs, Manchester City do not want to let Jason Denayer leave this summer – even on loan.
Recent reports from Belgium had suggested that Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Denayer, who is currently nursing a minor injury, but feels he needs time to adjust to the exciting new style of football City are employing.
Speaking exclusively to City Watch, well-connected Belgian journalist Sven Claes told us that City want to retain the 21-year-old defender, and even a loan deal may not happen.
“It will be very difficult for him to find a club, because City don’t want to negotiate with interested clubs,” Claes told City Watch earlier today.
With Vincent Kompany, John Stones, Nicolas Otamendi and surprise package, Aleksandar Kolarov, all options in the centre of defence, Denayer may fancy a loan move, but it appears City still have big plans for the Belgium international.
Galatasaray, Sporting CP, Hull and Sunderland are among those to have been linked with a loan move for Denayer.
