Pep Guardiola will finally land his new number one this week, with Claudio Bravo expected to arrive in Manchester as early as Thursday, according to Sky sources.
Barcelona announced earlier this week that they had reached an agreement in principle with Manchester City for the transfer of 33-year-old Bravo, and have now agreed a deal with Ajax to sign his replacement, Jasper Cillessen.
The arrival of Bravo will lead to Joe Hart’s emotional exit from the Etihad Stadium after a decade of service, with Everton favourites to sign England’s number one. Before then, there is a question of whether Pep Guardiola, not known for his sentimentality, will give Hart a farewell outing against Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday night.
Bravo’s family have told friends they are moving to Manchester, Sky report, with a deal worth up to around £17 million agreed between the two clubs.
Bravo’s arrival will allow City to play Guardiola’s ideal style of football more fluidly, with the Chilean well known for his ability to pass the ball. Even Manuel Neuer could not match his pass accuracy, an impressively high 84.3%, last season.
