Manchester City under-21 striker, David Faupala, is close to joining fellow City starlets, Ashley Smith-Brown and Thomas Agyepong, on loan at Dutch second tier side NAC Breda, according to L’Equipe and BN DeStem.
19-year-old Faupala, a French youth international, scored on his full debut for the first team last season, when Manuel Pellegrini fielded an understrength side against Chelsea in the FA Cup. Now, a year after moving to Manchester from Lens, he is set to head out on loan for experience.
French clubs Auxerre and Tours had both wanted to sign the striker, but City’s developing relationship with NAC has led to a host of young players jetting over the the Netherlands on loan or for trial periods. Highly-rated duo, Brandon Barker and Kean Bryan, have been training there and could also officially join on loan in the coming weeks, while the club is also consider James Horsfield as a defensive recruit.
Faupala will hope to match the feats of another City youngster, Enes Ünal, who spent the second half of last season at NAC. Ünal scored 9 goals in 11 appearances at the Rat Verlegh Stadion, and has moved up a division this summer by joining FC Twente on loan.
17:30 UPDATE: NAC Breda have now confirmed Faupala has joined on a season-long loan deal.
