According to the Manchester Evening News, Everton and City are quite a distance apart in their valuations of English centre-back John Stones, even though a deal is expected to be completed by the start of the season.
According to a few publications, the John Stones deal is a matter of ‘when’ and not ‘if’ and The Times reports that City are set to match Everton’s £50 million demands for the defender.
This isn’t the first time Stones has looked for a move away from Goodison Park, but Everton’s stubbornness has made it hard for any club to strike a deal – noticeably Chelsea last season. Stones, 22, was a starter for Everton during their 0-0 draw at Old Trafford last night.
City value Stones at around £40 million, however are well aware that they are likely to have to buckle to Everton’s demands if they are going to get their man. The saga may be coming to a close, but it isn’t expected to be completed before City jet off to Sweden.
