With Manchester City’s pursuit of Juventus stalwart Leonardo Bonucci looking dead or close to it, it has been reported that talented Roma centre-half Kostas Manolas is the club’s first alternative.
Finding a talented central defender is becoming tougher and tougher, so it is not just City with eyes on Manolas. Rivals Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the 25-year-old Greek international in recent months, and today the agent has named all three clubs as suitors.
Talking to Italian press, agent Ioannis Evangelopoulos said:
“The best clubs in Europe want him.
“There isn’t just Manchester City, but also United and Chelsea. I haven’t spoken with Roma for a while.
“Will he remain in the capital? No comment.”
Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Roma are determined to keep hold of Manolas and will not be selling him. However, for that to be confirmed, they must agree a new contract with Manolas that meets his demands. Should that fail to materialise, it’s quite possible he’ll be playing for either of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea this coming season…
