Sevilla have opened the door for Manchester City winger Jesús Navas’ to return to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Cadena SER’s Radio Sevilla is reporting.
Navas spent over a decade at the Andalusian club before joining City, even rejecting a move to Chelsea at the age of 20 because of issues with homesickness. When he left for Manchester, it was a brave step and one he hasn’t regretted having won the Premier League, but he has always shown the desire to return home after his Premier League experience.
Sevilla have held talks with City that reached an advanced stage, SER reports, but everything depends on Pep Guardiola. Sevilla do not necessarily need Navas right now, but hold him in such high regard that they’d take him back at any time – even this summer.
Guardiola is thinking about it and if he does decide Navas is expendable, the 30-year-old could return to Spain before the transfer window closes. However, it’s just as likely that the new City boss will see Navas as a useful player for his squad and retain him.
A return to Sevilla seems inevitable for Navas, but will it be now or next year? His contract expires in 12 months and it is almost certain he’ll leave the Etihad then, if not now. So what will it be Pep – another year of speedy Jesús or time to cash in?
