Among the many young talents at Inter, a Brazilian defensive midfielder by the name of Matias Antonini Lui is said to be standing out.
18-year-old Antonini Lui has already represented Brazil at under-17 level and is now aiming to enter the Seleção’s under-20 team. Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini holds the youngster in high regard and has allowed him to train with Inter’s first team several times.
According to TMW, Mancini could soon face a battle to keep the starlet from the clutches of his former club. After pressure from Bayern Munich to acquire the player, who is being compared to Thiago Motta, City are among a growing list of suitors keeping an eye on him.
City, along with Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen, have been observing Antonini Lui, and TMW reports that scouts have sent ‘more than positive feedback’ back to their clubs.
City are developing one of the world’s finest academies, with a great mix of local and foreign talents, and scouts are posted across the globe in search of more prospects. This summer, the club has recruited Swiss wonderkid Lorenzo Gonzalez and one of Argentina’s rising stars Benjamin Garré. Matias Antonini Lui could join those two at the City Football Academy if glowing reports from club scouts result in an official offer being made.
