Things have become quiet on the Leroy Sané front lately after his much-anticipated decision on his future didn’t really amount to anything.
With Sané at Euro 2016 with Germany, sat on the bench for most games, his future has remained uncertain with even his club, Schalke, not sure what his plans are.
Schalke’s sporting director Christian Heidel has spoken to SPORT BILD about the 20-year-old wunderkind, saying, “Leroy Sané must make a decision about his future after Euro 2016,” before adding, “We’ve always made it clear that we would be pleased if Leroy Sané remains at Schalke.”
The problem for Schalke is that Manchester City are willing to pay an incredible €50 million (£42.6 million) for the winger, not the sort of offer the Gelsenkirchen club can ignore. SPORT BILD also reveals that in addition to Bayern, there has been interest from PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona in the super-talent, but it is City who are pressing hardest for his signature.
Don’t expect this saga to drag out for long after Euro 2016. Heidel said they want to avoid a repeat of last summer, where they sold Julian Draxler to Wolfsburg very late in the transfer window, giving them no time to secure a replacement. Schalke want Sané to decide as quickly as he can, with Manchester City well positioned to sign one of Europe’s emerging young talents.
