Roberto Mancini is ‘furious’ at Inter for denying him a reunion with Yaya Touré and Pablo Zabaleta, according to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport.
Mancini wanted the Manchester City pair to reinforce his side, who underachieved last season, but following the takeover from China’s Suning Group, he has found that his influence on transfers has decreased and club officials waived both deals.
The former City boss is said to be angry about this and could even consider his future at the Nerazzurri. Mancini has been linked with the England job in the Italian press today, with the FA open to a foreign coach taking over if he has Premier League experience.
Touré’s move to Inter had almost seemed a question of when, not if, but plans appear to have changed with Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus the man they are after to take their final non-EU spot. Yaya is said to have rejected a move to China, so if Inter’s interest isn’t reignited or new suitors do not appear, the Ivorian could start next season in a City shirt.
Despite clashing reports from Italy about what stage the deal is at, most stories suggest that Zabaleta is very close to joining Roma, who look set to pip their Serie A rivals to the 31-year-old’s signature. City appear to have identified Bruno Peres of Torino as Zaba’s replacement.
