Roma have made it clear that Pablo Zabaleta is one of their primary targets this summer, but are yet to receive the same interest from the Manchester City right-back.
Roma have proposed a three-year contract worth €3 million net per season to Zaba, according to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport. Considering his age, this is an appealing offer, one he and his agent Federico Pastorello have been considering for a while now.
The Serie A side are pressing ahead with plans for next season and have asked Zabaleta to give them a final answer within the next seven days. Although City are not pushing Zaba out of the door, they are not expected to stand in his way if he decides on an Italian adventure, and would sell him for a reasonable fee.
Roma are already considering alternatives, including Davide Zappacosta (Torino) and Martin Caceres (Juventus), but it is Zabaleta they want most. However, they can’t wait forever and need the Argentine to show the same interest they have in him. So far he has been slow to answer, so what will it be Zaba – Manchester or Roma?
