20-year-old Schalke wunderkind and Manchester City target Leroy Sané will make a decision on his future next Wednesday according to BILD tonight.
Unless of a late decision to stay in Gelsenkirchen, the German international will join either City or Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. This is a similar scenario to last year when Bayern, known for recruiting the best talent from their domestic rivals, made a play for Kevin De Bruyne only to see him join City.
City are willing to offer a huge fee of €50 million (£39.3 million) for the prodigious winger, more than Bayern are willing to pay. According to the newspaper, Pep has personally called Sané, who is flattered by the interest of such a great coach.
However, Sané has yet to make his decision and Bayern Munich is always a tempting move for young German players. Bayern’s plan is to allow Sané to stay another year at Schalke before purchasing him for €37 million (£29 million), a considerably smaller fee than what City are willing to hand over.
Bayern are looking at long-term replacements for Arjen Robben (32) and Franck Ribéry (33), but do not see the legendary duo as expired goods just yet, so would prefer Sané to arrive 2017. Bayern have reportedly told Sané he would be guaranteed a starting place in 2017 and would be a major part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
So we now wait for the decision of Sané and also his club, who may not be impressed by the idea of Bayern offering €13 million less than City – or alternatively could welcome it if it allows their young pearl to stay another year.
