Süddeutsche Zeitung: City in pole position to sign Sané despite United interest

Leroy Sané is a wanted man around Europe, especially in Manchester. According to respected German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, Manchester United have entered the race to sign the Schalke forward. However, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are in pole position to snap up his signature.

Both José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are going to go head-to-head on a variety of occasions over the next few years, and this could be the first victory for either – but it’s more likely that Pep will come out on top on this occasion.

Yesterday, BILD reported that Schalke are preparing themselves for an official offer of around €50 million (£39.6 million) from City in the near future, which may well be too much for the German club to turn down.

So, who will win the showdown? Time will tell.
