The future of City midfielder Fernando has been up in the air with rumours that Pep Guardiola wants to overhaul his squad. Having been linked with Valencia and Villarreal in Spain, it has seemed likely that the 28-year-old could be on the move.
Now it appears he is in Guardiola’s plans. Several British journalists reported that the Brazilian has been informed he will stay, and now his agent has offered some insight.
Talking exclusive to the microphones of TMW, Antonio Araujo said:
“Interest of AC Milan in the lad? Absolutely false, all lies.
“The lad is happy at Manchester City and will definitely continue to play at the Etihad Stadium next season. I’m 100% certain of that.
“Does Guardiola want him in the midfield? Yes, the coach rates Fernando highly.”
So after a much improved second season at City, it looks like the defensive midfielder will be given a chance to impress under new boss Pep Guardiola in the upcoming campaign.
