İlkay Gündoğan will become a Manchester City player imminently, possibly even in the next few days. These are the signals coming out of Germany tonight, with separate sources reporting that a transfer is close for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Ruhr Nachrichten are considered as reliable as it gets for BVB news and they reported this evening that Gündoğan is expected to reveal his move to City in the coming days. His injury had raised doubts about the deal actually happening, but all recent reports have indicated that Guardiola wants him, injured or not.

Also tonight, SPORT BILD journalist Heiko Ostendorp revealed on Twitter that a deal for the 25-year-old is more or less done. Ostendorp reports a fee of around €26 million (£20 million) with future add-ons and says Gündoğan will sign a 4-year deal in the next few days.

UPDATE: The highly reliable Kicker claims a fee of €25 million (£19.3 million) + performance-related bonuses has been agreed. The transfer is not ‘perfect’ yet, with details still to be sorted.
Unless he heals sooner than expected, Gündoğan will not be ready for the start of the new season. His estimated return date is around the middle of October (though the Telegraph have information that he could be back in August), which would mean he’d miss the first two months of City’s 2016/17 campaign under new coach Pep Guardiola.
