JOE HART – 8 (Man of the Match)
Given no chance with the goal, but kept us in the tie with some stunning saves, notably from Ronaldo.
BACARY SAGNA – 7
Did very well to thwart the threat of Ronaldo, even though he lacks a threat going forward himself. He’s had an excellent season.
NICOLAS OTAMENDI – 7
At fault for the Madrid goal, but redeemed himself with some important and strong tackles in the second half.
VINCENT KOMPANY – N/A
Went off injured once again early in the first half. A huge shame for the City captain.
GAEL CLICHY – 7
Did well against Bale, and tried to get forward to support De Bruyne and later Sterling.
JESUS NAVAS – 6
He was on the pitch for 70 minutes but he didn’t really contribute all that much. Wasteful in possession at times too.
FERNANDO – 6
Unlucky with the goal, as it could have ricocheted anywhere. Carried on shielding the back four, but lacked purpose in possession.
FERNANDINHO – 6
An average performance from the combative Brazilian, who did nothing when on the ball and spent more time bundling people over.
YAYA TOURE – 6
Considering this was his last hurrah, this was a fairly disappointing showing. Couldn’t get his passing game going, lacked mobility, and was subbed after 60 minutes.
KEVIN DE BRUYNE – 5
After his heroics against PSG, this was hugely disappointing from Kevin. Created no chances and wasted a glorious free kick opportunity towards the end.
SERGIO AGUERO – 5
Spent all game dropping deep into midfield, and as a result we lacked an attacking threat. Had one good chance but was completely ineffective.
ELIAQUIM MANGALA – 6
His positioning wasn’t great at times, and there was far too much space between him and Clichy, which Real Madrid sought to exploit.
RAHEEM STERLING – 6
Gave us a bit of impetus and looked like he wanted to make an impact. Should have been brought on sooner.
KELECHI IHEANACHO – N/A
No real time to mark.
