On This Day – May 1: David White’s strike leads City to victory at Southampton (1993)

On May 1 in City history…

1975: Former Manchester City player Marc-Vivien Foé was born in Cameroon. The midfielder made thirty five appearances for City before tragically losing his life whilst playing for Cameroon in 2003.

1993: City win away at Southampton in the Premier League thanks to a David White strike. It was the first win for City in six games, leaving 16,730 fans stunned at St Mary’s. Let’s hope for a similar result today!

2004: City win at home against Newcastle United in what was a must-win game for Kevin Keegan’s side. Paulo Wanchope scored the only goal, as City moved six points clear of the relegation zone.

Happy Birthday: Marc-Vivien Foé (1975-2003), Abdisalam Ibrahim (25)
