On This Day – April 26: Neil Young strikes to win City the FA Cup (1969)

On April 26 in City history…

1969: Manchester City win the FA Cup for the fourth time in their history, courtesy of a 1-0 win over Leicester City. Legend Neil Young was the scorer, crashing home a Mike Summerbee cross as the Blues put their difficult league form behind them and lifted the prestigious FA Cup trophy.

2008: City lose a thrilling home game against Fulham 3-2 after the Blues squandered a two goal lead. Benjani and Stephen Ireland scored City’s goals, before Fulham staged a dramatic comeback to boost their hopes of Premier League survival.
