On This Day – April 20: Niall Quinn saves a penalty as City relegate Derby (1991)

On April 20 in City history…

1991: City relegate Derby County from the old Division One, courtesy of a 2-1 victory. It was the game in which Niall Quinn scored then famously went in net and saved a Dean Saunders penalty, after goalkeeper Tony Coton was sent off.

1992: That man Niall Quinn is the City hero, scoring two goals away at Goodison Park as City claimed a crucial 2-0 win against Everton. The victory helped City to push up the table, with the Blues eventually finishing fifth for the second year in a row.
