On April 19 in City history…
1958: Football mourns the death of Billy Meredith, one of the game’s first superstars, at the age of 83. Meredith is still to this day considered one of City’s greatest players, scoring a hugely impressive 151 goals for the Blues. He played his final game for the club at the age of 49 years and 245 days!
2009: City sweep aside West Bromwich Albion at the City of Manchester Stadium, with Robinho starring in a 4-2 win for Mark Hughes’ side. The Brazil star scored the opening goal of the game, before strikes from Nedum Onouha, Elano and Daniel Sturridge handed the Blues all three points.
Happy Birthday: Fred Tilson (1904-1972), Trevor Francis (62), Lucien Mettomo (39), Joe Hart (29)
