1970: Manchester City surge into the European Cup Winners Cup’ final after battering German side Schalke 5-1 at Maine Road. Two goals from Neil Young, as well as goals from Colin Bell, Mike Doyle and Franny Lee ensured the 46,361 fans at Maine Road had a memorable European night.
2000: Spencer Prior scores the only goal as City draw away at Grimsby Town in the old Division One. By drawing this match, which was observed by just 8,000 fans, the Blues extended their unbeaten run to seven games.
