Gareth Bale would be an elite signing for any English club. He’s a proven world class superstar, homegrown, highly marketable, and at the age of 26 still young. However, prising him away from Real Madrid is easier said than done and reports of Bale returning to the Premier League are usually dismissed as fanciful.
TMW in Italy, known for its links to agents around story, have an interesting exclusive on Bale’s future, though. They report that while Real Madrid are pushing Bale to sign a contract extension until 2021, his entourage are trying to get him back in the Premier League.
Two clubs, able to realistically fund a deal for the Bale, are interested in acquiring the Welsh phenom according to TMW: Manchester City and Manchester United.
City would seem better positioned to sign Bale as Champions League semi finalists and with Pep Guardiola on his way, but should United finish above City and relegate City to Europa League football (unless, that is, City go on to win the Champions League!) that could make them a slightly more appealing proposition.
There could be nothing to this story but TMW exclusives are usually worth a second look and the idea of Bale returning to the Premier League isn’t unrealistic. Real Madrid will want to hold on to their British galactico, though, who despite injury problems has performed well since arriving and could be the main man in the post-Ronaldo era.
