On April 4 in City history…
1992: Manchester City crush eventual First Division champions Leeds United 4-0 in the final season before the formation of the Premier League. Goals from Mark Brennan, Andy Hill, Niall Quinn and Mike Sheron meant that the 30,000 City fans at Maine Road went home with a smile on their face. There had been speculation that City would “lie down” to help Leeds win the league ahead of United, but the Blues put on their best performance of the season.
2004: Sylvain Distin scores City’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Villa Park. Robbie Fowler and Nicolas Anelka came on to try and snatch the three points, but it wasn’t City’s day and they had to share the points.
Happy Birthday: Bill Ridding (1911-1981)
