On This Day – March 30: Huckerby’s hat-trick sinks Forest

On March 30 in City history…

1898: Manchester City draw 3-3 with Blackpool at Hyde Road in a breathtaking game of football. The loyal crowd of 4,000 were certainly given a treat as goals from George Dougal, Billy Gillespie and William Smith earned the Blues a valuable point.


2002: City fans went home delighted after a Darren Huckerby hat-trick earned Kevin Keegan’s side three valuable points over Nottingham Forest. The game was witnessed by 34,345 spectators, a huge number for a Division One game, as Keegan’s side pushed towards a Premier League return.
