On March 3 in City history…
1934: City hosted Stoke in the sixth round of the FA Cup, a match which saw 84,569 fans packed into Maine Road. To this day, this remains the highest club attendance in English football history. City won 1-0, with Eric Brook scoring the only goal of the game.
2012: City hosted Bolton at the Etihad whilst on the hunt for their first Premier League title. Mancini’s side took the lead early on through Gael Clichy’s deflected strike. After many squandered chances, Mario Balotelli finally wrapped up the game to send City 5 points clear of United at the top.
