On March 2 in City history…
1955: Manchester City signed Hibernian star Bobby Johnstone (1929-2001) for a significant sum of £22,000. The Scotsman became so popular at City that he was soon given the nickname “Bobby Dazzler” for his wonderful performances. The inside forward made history at City by becoming the first player to score in consecutive FA Cup finals.
2014: City boss Manuel Pellegrini picked up his first trophy at the club, winning the Capital One Cup after a hard fought 3-1 victory over Sunderland. The game in itself is largely remembered for wonder strikes by both Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri. It was the third time that City had lifted the League Cup, and the season got even better with the club lifting its second Premier League title in three years.
