WILLY CABALLERO – 4
Penalty save aside, this was an absolutely howler of a performance. The only positive is that he may have played himself out of contention for next Sunday’s cup final.
PABLO ZABALETA – 5
Always willing to support the attack, but he really struggles against quick dynamic wingers, often caught off balance. One of our better senior players today, which isn’t saying much.
TOSIN ADARABIOYO – 7
Despite the scoreline, this was an excellent performance. Read the game superbly, making some crucial tackles and interceptions. Really needs to improve his passing, but that will hopefully come with time.
MARTIN DEMICHELIS – 4
Another howler. He’s ageing now so it’s unfair to level too much blame, but his decision making is awful at times. The penalty he gave away summed up his afternoon – rash and reckless.
ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV – 4
Another “senior” player who let down the youngsters today. Constantly out of position, never willing to help out further forward. Will likely be sold in the summer.
MANU GARCIA – 6
A very comfortable performance. Waned a bit in the second half, but his passing and close control are fantastic. Has a huge future ahead of him.
FERNANDO – 6
Today saw a decent display from the much maligned Brazillian. Made five successful interceptions and his passing was a lot more purposeful when in possession.
ALEIX GARCIA – 7
A standout performance from the former Villareal starlet. His passing is terrific and near 90% pass accuracy in a game like this is impressive. He’s also certainly not afraid to get stuck in. Another with a bright future.
BERSANT CELINA – 6
A tough game for the young lad, who managed just 23 touches of the ball, but one which he’ll gain experience from. Azpilicueta is one of the best 1v1 defenders out there, and Celina caused him a few problems.
DAVID FAUPALA – 8 (Man of the Match)
Nobody really expected David to start, but he was a breath of fresh air. His running, and willingness to press the opposition was brilliant. Delighted for him to get a goal, and it was deserved after such a courageous performance.
KELECHI IHEANACHO – 6
It’s easy to forget how young Kelechi is, but my word he has some talent. Has such a high ceiling, and could be as good as any forward out there in a few years.
BRANDON BARKER – 6
Produced some good moments when he came on, constantly running at the Chelsea back four, and eager to show his quality. Lacked support at times, but never stopped trying.
CAMERON HUMPHREYS – 6
He likes his big games, and what’s encouraging is he doesn’t look out of his depth. Another youngster with a vast amount of potential.
