Pep Guardiola finally confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in football today, telling the media that he is heading to the Premier League.
Quizzed about why he’d leave such a comfortable and successful gig in Munich behind, Pep said:
“The reason I have not extended my contract is simple. I want to manage in the Premier League.
“I haven’t decided on a new club yet – I need a new challenge.
“I want new stadiums, cities and restaurants to know. Three years is enough in a club. I’m not a coach of 30 years staying at a club.”
As far as the German and Spanish press are concerned, Guardiola is on his way to City. Foreign media sources are so confident of this, they have been printing reports on which players Pep has told City to sign.

Here in England, the media are less certain, with City, United, Arsenal and Chelsea all mentioned as possible destinations for the in-demand Catalan.
Guardiola himself gave nothing away, saying he hasn’t even decided on a new club yet. However, even if he has a verbal agreement with City or anyone else, it is highly unlikely he would reveal it at this stage, with a coach active at his next club.
Will Pep Guardiola reunite with Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain at the Etihad next summer? More evidence points to ‘yes’ than ‘no’, but the wait will go on to know for sure.
