Manchester City to travel to Spain for friendly match – THREE days after first Premier League game

Manchester City are reportedly set to face partner club Girona FC for the annual Costa Brava Trophy at the 9,286 capacity Estadi Montilivi on August 15 – just THREE days after they face Brighton in their Premier League opener.

According to a number of media sources in Spain, the friendly will be Girona’s final preparation for the La Liga season ahead of their game on August 19 against Atlético Madrid.

The timing is very curious and the it is possible that Pep Guardiola could take a young side over to Catalonia with him, or he may see it as an extra game to get new signings attuned to his system.

Girona host the Costa Brava Trophy every year and lost to Marseille in last year’s edition after beating Espanyol in 2015 and UE Llagostera in 2014.
