Dani Alves has been officially presented as a Paris Saint-Germain player after the Ligue 1 side pulled off a stunning coup, trumping City’s salary offer to the 34-year-old to capture him.

During his first press conference as a Parisien, Alves was asked about his Manchester City snub and appeared to show regret at reneging on a verbal agreement to join the Premier League side.
“I had interest from Manchester City. Their project is also very interesting. If Pep Guardiola or City feel embarrassed, I apologise. But I have come here to be a champion,” the Brazilian told the assembled media.
City still have just one recognised and established full-back on the books in the form of Aleksandar Kolarov – more of a central defender nowadays – with the squad due to fly to the US next week. With that in mind, attempts to sign Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker are likely to be accelerated this week.
