Alavés have used their option to buy the former Real Madrid academy talent for €2million (£1.75million), meaning City have made a profit to the tune of around £1.5million on a player signed in 2015 for just £200,000.
Sobrino was initially loaned to partner club Girona to help their push for promotion to La Liga in 2015-16, but after that failed he moved up a league by joining Alavés. During his season at the Estadio Mendizorrotza, Rubén scored 3 goals in 16 appearances.
