Espanyol are working on a deal to prise away the esteemed Eduardo Mauri, Manchester City club doctor, away from the Premier League giants and back to Spain.
The Barcelona-born doctor, a former footballer himself, has previously worked for Espanyol and the Qatar national team, and joined the Blues a year ago from Belgian side AS Eupen, but it could be a short stay.
La Liga side Espanyol have a vacancy after Dr. José Luis Turmo left his post as head of medical services last Friday, and Mundo Deportivo reports that they have identified Mauri as the perfect man to replace him.
For his part, Mauri wants the job and is trying to get out of a two-year contract with Man City, which sees him earn a high salary. It will not be easy for Espanyol, but with the will of the doctor being to return to Spain, they are determined to do everything they can to make it happen.
