La Liga coach confirms club are ‘working’ on deal to sign Manchester City star

Manchester City winger Nolito could be in line for a quick return to Celta Vigo, less than a year after he left the La Liga club to join City in a £13.8 million deal.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Betis in recent weeks, while Atletico Madrid are monitoring their situation as they await the outcome of their transfer ban appeal.

However, new Celta coach, Juan Carlos Unzué, has today confirmed that the Galician club are interested in re-signing Nolito and have people ‘working’ to make it happen.

Speaking to the local press Unzué was asked about Nolito and responded: “He plays for Manchester City at the top level, but he has played very little.”

“He knows the club and we’d have to see how willing he is (to return), but we’re working on it and when the moment comes we’ll let you know the decisions made.”

Speaking to Radio Marca yesterday, Nolito sounded open to a return to Celta, but may have several proposals to consider.

It has been an unhappy year in Manchester for the Spain international and some of his recent remarks have betrayed a bitterness towards Pep Guardiola, who seemed to lose faith in Nolito around the turn of the year. Now it appears that a transfer, be it a loan or permanent deal, is the best solution.
