Manchester City make decision on future of young defender Jason Denayer

Manchester City have decided not to sell 21-year-old defender Jason Denayer this summer, but nor will he be integrated into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad next season.

Denayer, who spent the season on loan at relegated Sunderland, will be heading out for his fourth loan spell in as many seasons, the reliable Kristof Terreur of HLN reports.

The decision was made several weeks ago and a similar story was written by DH in Belgium back in April.

Despite an indifferent season at Sunderland, where he was often used as a midfielder by David Moyes, Denayer, who at the age of 21 has already been capped eight times by Belgium, will not be short of suitors. Former loan club Galatasaray are one of the sides thought to be interested in re-signing the versatile young defender.

Denayer is making other headlines for the wrong reasons today, having been filmed involving himself in a street brawl in Brussels.
