Manchester City academy player ends 11-year stay with farewell message to club and fans

Manchester City and Wales under-21 goalkeeper, Billy O’Brien, has announced on Twitter that he is leaving the club, with his contract due to expire in June.

The 21-year-old, born locally in Bury, has been on loan Scottish Championside side St Mirren since January, making 15 appearances in the league and firmly establishing himself as their first-choice goalkeeper.

O’Brien took to Twitter today, offering thanks to the club and fans after an 11-year stay at the Blues. He signed off saying, “Once a Blue, always a Blue.”

All the best going forward, Billy!
