Will Yaya Touré be a Manchester City player next season? For now we don’t know, despite many stories that the 34-year-old is set to be offered a contract extension.
Touré was not given a special send-off on Tuesday night like Pablo Zabaleta, an indication that the midfield talisman could continue his Etihad adventure a while longer.
His controversial agent Dimitri Seluk is never short on words and spoke to the microphones of Italian news portal TMW today, offering some new insight. He sounded like a man considering a future away from City for his client, but did not rule out a stay for the Ivorian.
Here is a translation of the interview:
Could Serie A be a viable option over the next few weeks?
Seluk: We’ll see. Yaya is a player who costs so much that not all clubs are able to afford him. Only the big teams would have enough arguments to get him, both technically and economically.
A renewal with Manchester City is in doubt?
Seluk: Nothing in football is impossible, but I will say that the player will soon be free (out of contract). I’m free to choose a new team.
Meanwhile, offers are incoming…
Seluk: Absolutely, there are so many proposals on our table to be evaluated. We are considering everything and will soon make a decision.
Are there any priorities?
Seluk: The European competitions are all important, but we do not have any particular preferences and no one is in pole position at the moment. As explained before, not all clubs could afford Yaya. Bayern Munich would be a club suited to his level.
Can we exclude China and the United States
Seluk: We will not consider these offers, for sure. Yaya will continue to play in Europe at a very level level. He wants to win much more, both in the league and Champions League.
