Manchester City striker given permission to discuss transfer to Bundesliga club – report

Kelechi Iheanacho has been given permission to speak with Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, according to an exclusive report by Nigerian football portal Own Goal Nigeria.

It was the same source, whose credibility we can’t verify, that recently broke news of interest in Kelechi from Hoffenheim, who have qualified for next season’s Champions League.

Led by the innovative 29-year-old, Julian Nagelsmann, Hoffenheim is a good club for youngsters to develop at and would be a logical next step for Iheanacho, who has been largely frozen out of the Manchester City team. He has played just 122 minutes in all competitions since the turn of the year, and that included a long spell when Gabriel Jesus was injured.

It is claimed by Own Goal Nigeria that the 20-year-old forward will meet with Hoffenheim’s sporting director, Alexander Rosen, before the end of the month to hear their offer. Other clubs across Europe are also chasing Kelechi’s signature this summer and could make similar propositions.

City will only sanction a loan deal or a permanent deal that includes a buy-back clause, conscious of the potential Iheanacho has, even if he does not appear to suit Pep Guardiola’s style of play right now.

What do you think, Blues? Should Pep be playing Kelechi more or is it time to move on? Vote below and leave a comment.
