Manchester City are set to rule themselves out of the running to sign Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappé after the French side set a world record price tag on his head.
It is reported by The Times that Manchester City made an enquiry for the Monaco man but were told that he would cost a figure of around €130 million (equates to £110 million), which deterred Pep Guardiola and his staff away from putting in an offer.
It’s understood that despite rating Mbappé highly, Pep Guardiola and the club aren’t willing to spend such a large sum on a player who has only recently burst onto the scene, with just 2 league starts for Monaco before this season.
Whether the price tag placed on Mbappé is just a deterrent is unknown, however it’s certainly put Manchester City off any potential deal.
