Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal among clubs to offer contract to Schalke defender

23-year-old Schalke left-back, Sead Kolašinac, is set to become one of Europe’s hottest free agents when his contract expires in June, with SIX offers made for his services.

According to German publication BILD, Manchester City are joined by Liverpool, Arsenal, AC Milan, Juventus and Roma in making approaches for the Bosnian international. All have contacted Kolašinac’s representatives with offers as they look to strike a bargain for a player with 5 assists and 3 goals in 19 Bundesliga starts this campaign.

It was reported by Tuttosport back in January that the player had turned down City, Liverpool and Milan in favour of Juventus, but it appears he is now considering his options with so many choices.

Schalke have offered Kolašinac a contract worth €3 million a season, far too little for a player who can earn more than €6 million if he opts for one of the clubs interested. Schalke sporting director, Christian Heidel, is still strangely optimistic that he can retain a player who has been with the Gelsenkirchen club since he was a teenager, but with his contract up in a few months, hopes must be fading.

And with Schalke sitting in ninth place, a mile behind the leading pack, they can’t offer the left-back Champions League football next season, unlike most of the interested parties.

All that is left is for Kolašinac to decide his future. His chances of playing will undoubtedly be an important factor and with City desperately lacking quality at left-back, that could make the Etihad an ideal destination.

Until the end of March, the City Store is marking down some iconic Retro Shirts to £20 (£18 for Cityzens).
