It promises to be a busy summer at the Etihad Stadium with many stars set to leave and new faces to replace them. Not all of the transfer rumours will come true, but one player Pep Guardiola could realistically target is Juventus-owned Bayern Munich winger, Kingsley Coman.
It was recently claimed by Téléfoot that both Manchester City and Chelsea had lodged offers of between €50 million and €60 million for the 20-year-old.
That report seemed presumptuous, but having only started five Bundesliga games all season, Coman would be forgiven if he didn’t want to join the Bundesliga champions permanently. Unfortunately, he may not have a choice with Bayern having an option to buy him this summer following a two-year loan, the best moments of which he played under Guardiola’s coaching.
It’s unclear if City (or Chelsea) can get Coman from Juventus or if they’d have to go to Munich with an offer, but according to an exclusive report by Le10sport in Coman’s homeland of France today, City have already ‘laid the groundwork’ for a deal to sign the talented young player.
The publication claims that contacts were recently made between representatives from City and Coman’s entourage, with the Blues signaling their intent to make a concrete approach in the coming weeks. As it stands, no negotiations have been initiated between the two sides, but the information from Le10sport is that the foundations have been laid.
Pep is a huge fan of the winger, moreso than Carlo Ancelotti, and with Jesus Navas on his way and Nolito’s future in serious doubt, the squad will be short on natural wingers to challenge and rotate with Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling. For Guardiola, Coman, who scored 6 goals and registered 11 assists for Pep’s Bayern side last season, would be an ideal option to bolster the squad.
