Former Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol, has offered support to his former boss, Pep Guardiola, who faces the prospect of a trophyless first season at Manchester City unless he can guide the Blues to FA Cup success.
Speaking to Sport360, the 38-year-old retired defender, who won the Champions League twice under Pep in addition to many other trophies, said, “I think he is doing a good job.”
Puyol stressed that the Catalan boss needs time to fully settle at City, something club chiefs seem more than willing to give their chosen one.
“It’s always tough arriving to a new league, with a new mentality and with a very different style of football. I am certain he will win titles with Man City in the future and that they will play brilliant football, the Pep style of play.
“You have to go step by step and have some patience.”
City are on course for a top four finish as it stands, and a win over Liverpool at the Etihad tomorrow would put them four points clear of Jürgen Klopp’s side with a game in hand.
Until the end of March, the City Store is marking down some iconic Retro Shirts to £20 (£18 for Cityzens).
