Manchester City ready to offer goalkeeper a new contract whilst opening talks with Sunderland for Pickford

There’s been a big update on the goalkeeping front for Manchester City this morning from Sam Lee of Goal.

He reports that Manchester City are preparing to offer Willy Caballero a new contract after he shifted Claudio Bravo out of the number one position in recent weeks, with Pep Guardiola appearing to lose faith in the Chilean goalkeeper.

However, Caballero’s camp haven’t yet heard from the club and he would want reassurance over his spot in the first-team if he is to commit his future years to City.

On top of that, Sam reports that Manchester City have touched base with Sunderland regarding their goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who has been in top form despite having his goal hammered by opposition players this season. City haven’t made any attempt to buy the young home-grown goalkeeper as of yet, but have asked the Black Cats to keep them in the know with any movements and any serious interest from rivals.

And finally, Manchester City sources have revealed that there is ‘no chance’ of Gerónimo Rulli joining the club in the near future, and sources close to the player echo those comments despite him being heavily linked with City.
