Manchester City’s pursuit of a left-back could lead them to signing a lower league teenager over the bigger names linked such as Juan Bernat, Danny Rose and José Luis Gayà.
16-year-old England under-17 international, Ryan Sessegnon, has been a sensation for Fulham this year with 4 goals and 2 assists in just 9 starts for the Championship side, including a strike against Premier League opposition, Hull City, in the FA Cup.
Sessegnon’s form has alerted Premier League sides, and according to an exclusive report in The Sun on Sunday, at the front of the queue is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
City are said to be so impressed by Sessegnon, who has been compared to Gareth Bale because of his ability to power forward and how he uses the ball when he attacks, they are ‘convinced’ he is ready for the Premier League, even at his tender age.
Sessegnon, who is also attracting interest from Tottenham, would cost at least £8 million, and it is reported that City are willing to pay that as they look to overhaul the full-back positions this summer.
