Manchester City will face Monaco in the last 16 of the Champions League and if you believe the French press, half of the the principality club’s players could be on the move to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
In recent days, City have been linked with Tiémoué Bakayoko and Fabinho. The Ligue 1 leaders also reportedly turned down a £35 million bid from City last summer for teenage sensation, Kylian Mbappé, an 18-year-old with 11 goals in 21 appearances this season.
But wait, that’s not all! Because according to another exclusive by Le10sport, who either have a very good contact within Monaco or writers with active imaginations, Monaco’s star right-back is on Manchester City’s radar.
24-year-old full-back Djibril Sidibé, a right-back who can also play on the left, has been simply outstanding for Monaco this season, and predictably many of Europe’s top clubs are said to have eyes on him.
And according to Le10sport, City have stepped up their interest in the France international in recent weeks. Pep Guardiola himself has been to watch Monaco on a scouting mission for the Champions League games, but has been impressed by the likes of Sidibé. It is claimed that he sees Sidibé as a potential replacement for countryman Bacary Sagna, who could be on his way out this coming summer.
Other than interest in Fabinho, confirmed by the player’s father, it’s impossible to know if City want all or none of these Monaco stars. It could be an indication, however, of just how good this team is and what sort of challenge could await the Blues in the upcoming Champions League tie against Monaco. Sidibé himself is an injury doubt for the game, but the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Tiémoué Bakayoko, João Moutinho and Radamel Falcao are not going to make qualification easy for the Premier League side.
