Gabriel Jesus will miss 2 to 3 months of action with a broken 5th metatarsal, according to journalists Vero Brunati of Diario SPORT and Alfredo Martínez of Onda Cero Radio.

This has yet to be confirmed by Manchester City, but given the specific diagnosis reported by Brunati, the reports could be accurate.

This comes as a huge blow to both the club and Gabriel Jesus himself, who has made an explosive start to life at the Etihad. He was substituted early in yesterday’s game against Bournemouth with what looked like a relatively minor foot problem, but should this information be true, he will miss much of what remains of the 2016-17 season.

13:10 UPDATE: The source of the injury news has been revealed as former player Denilson, who spoke to Gabriel Jesus’ brother. We continue to await for any official word.
