Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho looks set to be offered a new contract at the club if Pep Guardiola’s comments are anything to go by.
His current deal is set to run out at the end of next season and Pep Guardiola doesn’t want him to leave, neither does the club or the fans. The Brazilian is a key part of the Manchester City side, with bags of energy and was recently praised by talented attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.
Speaking to the press ahead of Manchester City’s game against West Ham United tomorrow night, Pep Guardiola said:
“I am so happy with him and would be delighted if he continues for a long time here, he’s one more year on his contract. It’s not just in my mind but the club’s mind.
“He’s so important for us and we have played a lot without him. I am happy he’s back. He’s not aggressive, he’s honest. He’s a tough, intense player like English football is.”
