It’s that time again where Manchester City are linked with a swoop for Lionel Messi.

The Sun report that Manchester City are ready to offer Barcelona £100,000,000 for the world’s best player who has just 18 months remaining on his contract. According to the piece, the club would be willing to offer Messi £800,000-per-week in order to reunite him with Pep Guardiola.

The fire has been stoked by Barcelona CEO who has admitted that the books need to be balanced in order to keep Messi at the club and bumper contracts for Luis Suarez and Neymar don’t help the cause.

He was quoted as saying:

“We have to be very strict with the budgets, we can’t go crazy.

“We need to comply with the ratios of debt and the percentage of salaries in the budget. I want the best player in history to remain here.

“We will find the way, I am sure, but we have to make the numbers add up.”
