Serie A side Roma are looking to strengthen their squad in January as they try to close the gap on runaway leaders Juventus after the Italian winter break.
And coach Luciano Spalletti has ordered club chiefs to enquire about a Manchester City veteran in recent days. According to local newspaper Leggo, they have made an approach for City winger Jesús Navas who has just six months left on his existing deal.
Despite potentially having the opportunity to make a little cash on the 31-year-old, City quickly declined Roma’s offer with Pep Guardiola not looking to sell any of his attackers this winter.
City and Roma have built a good relationship over the last few years, with the likes of Maicon and Edin Džeko departing the Etihad for the Stadio Olimpico.
However, Navas will not be joining them and the likelihood is that he’ll return to former club Sevilla next summer when his Manchester City deal expires.
