It has been three weeks since Manchester City outplayed and finally beat FC Barcelona on a memorable night at the Etihad Stadium. This win was crucial because City had put themselves on shaky ground in Group C of the Champions League prior to that game, but a victory meant that qualification to the last 16 now looks more likely than not.
Today, the Blues travel to Borussia-Park where they face struggling German side Borussia Mönchengladbach, who sit 13th in the Bundesliga. That should not make City underestimate their opposition, however, with these Champions League nights a big deal – Gladbach lost only narrowly to Barcelona at home in September.
Renowned Turkish referee Cüneyt Çakır oversees tonight’s match, and here are the starting lineups that Pep Guardiola and André Schubert have gone with:
Borussia Mönchengladbach: Sommer, Jantschke, Elvedi, Christensen, Wendt, Dahoud, Strobl, Traoré, Stindl, Johnson, Raffael
Manchester City XI: Bravo, Kolarov, Stones, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Navas, Aguero
