City have been handed a major transfer blow as Arsenal announced Hector Bellerín had signed a new contract.

Manchester City have been handed a major transfer blow as one of their priority targets signed a new contract with Arsenal this afternoon, keeping him in London until 2023.

Hector Bellerín has reportedly been interesting Barcelona and Manchester City, but the young right-back has put pen to paper in a deal that will keep him at Arsenal until 2023.

Pep Guardiola is on the lookout for new defenders in order to strengthen his squad, identifying the full-back positions as priorities due to the aging options currently available.

It’s a major blow for the Blues and Pep Guardiola, but they have identified numerous targets for the full-back positions and Hector Bellerín wasn’t the only option available to the Manchester club if they are to open their cheque book in the January transfer window – Aurier has been linked recently and City may well turn to Pablo Maffeo who has impressed so far.
