Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was absent from Belgium training today.
Vincent Kompany wasn’t a part of Belgium training this morning amid a fresh injury scare after he withdrew from the starting XI on Wednesday evening.
The Manchester City captain was replaced in the team after withdrawing during the warm-up by his own personal choice, and Belgian media reported that it was purely precautionary and there was no new injury.
Roberto Martínez also denied that there was an injury in his press conference, he said:
“There is no injury to Vincent Kompany. We did not want to take any risks with him and Kompany did not feel well after the warm-up.
“I want every player to be 100 per cent. I would be surprised if he can play Sunday, but it is still too early to say.
“We will have to assess the situation, especially with his club. If he is not ready, I will take another defender.”
However, his absence from training this morning suggest the opposite – has Vincent Kompany really suffered another setback? The other suggestion is a problem with his mental state, the centre-back may now live in constant fear of another injury and wouldn’t want to risk any sort of knock.
